Volleyball
Info:
Players will work on passing, defense, serve/serve receive, and attacking, as defined below, in an effort to develop all-around skills to improve each player's volleyball performance on the court.
PASSING: Players will focus on the proper technique of forearm and overhead passing through various paced balls ranging from free balls, tips, roll shots, and attacked balls. Players will focus on using the proper defensive footwork while incorporating various defensive team concepts.
SERVE/SERVE & RECEIVE: Players will focus on the proper serving technique, placement, efficiency, and power for standing float and topspin serves. For capable players, jump serving will also be introduced. In addition, players will focus on accurate forearm and overhead passing technique off a served ball.
ATTACKING: (with the inclusion of blocking and setting). Players will focus on the proper attacking technique as it relates to body positioning, arm swing, and footwork. Players will work on their hitting accuracy, control, power, and placement. Capable players will attack various tempo sets. In addition, players will focus on the proper blocking technique and footwork. Capable players will be asked to set with the expectation of receiving feedback as to their form, accuracy, control, and footwork.
In addition to our September tryout dates, we will also be evaluating players during our Youth All-Skills sessions. There is no pressure to perform—our goal is to help players work on new skills and improve their game. With positive feedback from our coaches and the chance to develop individually, players will have more opportunities to be seen and evaluated before the official tryout dates.
